Our Story

Founded in 1946 as Kentucky Mills and renamed The Nelson Company in 1976, we’ve been proudly family-owned and operated under our current ownership since 1982.
For nearly 80 years, we’ve built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, reliable service, and trusted relationships with customers across the Easter United States.

What started as a small regional mill has grown into a modern, vertically integrated manufacturer — committed to producing high-quality industrial wood products that meet the highest standards of performance and value.

Our Facilities & Capabilities

Today, The Nelson Company operates with more than 60,000 square feet under roof and some of the most modern pallet-manufacturing equipment in the industry.

In 2005, we installed a state-of-the-art heat-treating facility that allows us to meet all current government and export specifications, including full IPPC certification for international shipments.

Our in-house trucking fleet ensures fast, dependable, and on-time delivery — keeping your production lines running smoothly.

Vertical Integration

To ensure consistent quality and value, we expanded in 2013 with the addition of a Brewer Scragg Mill capable of producing over 6 million board feet of lumber annually.
This vertical integration gives us complete control over raw material sourcing and quality — allowing us to deliver superior pallets at competitive prices, with unmatched consistency and lead times.

Our Commitment

At The Nelson Company, customer satisfaction comes first.
  We are committed to:

With a 50+ year reputation for excellence in value-added packaging, we continue to invest in innovation, equipment, and people — ensuring that every pallet we build reflect quality and integrity.
